We did it ladies and gentleman. On August 29th, 2015, Sid: The Handsome Bum opened at the Victoria Fringe to a small, but very receptive audience. The day was windy and yet it seemed that the audience was more blown away by the performance than the weather. Evidence of this was when, yours truly, Ira, was out and about, visiting Fringe lines to promote our show (hustlin’ baby). Twice I ran into folk who had seen the show, expressed their love for it and helped me promote the show to attentive crowds. Lovely when what you have put your heart and soul into, as we have with Sid, is appreciated.
Aside from a stellar opening, we have been seeing some wonderful shows. PLEASE, check them out. Tipped and Tipsy, Do I Have to Do Everything My Fucking Self, Jizz Sock, Sama Kutra, Almost a Stepmom, Birdman….to name a few! Fringe, Fringe, Fringe!
On a personal note, I biked into town along the Lochside Trail, which is beautiful and winds through pumpkin patches, trestle bridges and a wonderful cookie stand.
Did the Integrate Arts Festival 6 to 9 art walk yesterday and was amazed by the wide range of artists that call Victoria and the surrounding area home. I must give a shout out to my dear friend, Ruby Arnold’s show, Bridge Over Troubled Water, which…I won’t ruin for you, but it’s interactive, it’s film, it’s moving, it’s worth it.
Please. Please. Please support arts. Support Sid.
